I was listening to the Ted Talks Radio Hour app last Friday, and education was the topic. It replayed some of the talks i have heard before, but is one of the things we have been discussing, in our attempt to change the world.
Education is badly in need of a revamp. or renovation, or revolution. Are world is changing, our competition in other countries is growing which is good, because we have become way to complacent. Our schools are now geared toward meeting some goal of not failing instead of engaging students and creating creative students. Our System has been geared toward creating a work force in manufacturing or business which is no longer relevant. Our System is no longer working for future markets.
So What is the solution? We are going to discuss some options, idea’s put forth by Ted Talks and others to start educating in a new way that inspires, and creates a diverse work force that enjoys what it does and does not turn out non thinkers and non dreamers(more on this next week).
So I posted three Education Talks from Ted over the weekend and all this week. The Khan Academy, John Hunter: Teaching with the World Peace Game and Charles Leadbeater: Education innovation in the slums to get us started.
42 Aspens will be researching and discussing grass roots ideas and solutions to our Education Problems.
